Welcome to the Supporting People Directory of Services
About Supporting People
Supporting People (SP) is a national scheme to help improve the lives of 'vulnerable' adults by offering housing-related support services. The aim is to help you become more independent and improve your quality of life.
Any support you receive through SP should complement the support you may already be getting from your local council or housing association.
SP services and activities can be tailored to fit in with your particular circumstances and needs, helping you to do things for yourself.
Our aim is to make sure services are flexible, cost-effective and responsive. This could, for example, be with:
- help to make sure you are receiving all the benefits you are entitled to
- help with your tenancy
- advising on home improvements
- home visits, if you live independently. (We call this either Floating Support or Outreach)
- funding a support worker, based on where you are living
We may be able to help you if you
- are an ex-offender, or someone at risk of offending
- are an older person who needs support - perhaps you are frail, or have dementia or other mental health problems
- have alcohol problems
- have drug problems
- have learning difficulties
- have physical, sight or hearing impairments
- have mental health problems
- are a homeless family
- are a single homeless person or a rough sleeper
- are a woman at risk of domestic violence
- are a young person at risk or leaving care
- are a teenage parent
- are facing homelessness
