The ICIS Vision
We want a world where all people can access the information they need to help them in their daily lives through difficult, challenging or changing circumstances.

Mission statement
To enable people of all ages to improve the quality of their lives and to cope better when life is difficult, ICIS provides impartial and timely information directly to individuals and service providers with a primary focus on West Sussex.

ICIS is a friendly, professional and impartial information 'bank' helping people of all ages in West Sussex find support and care when life is difficult, and developing and managing information resources for health and social care providers. To do this we:
  • run a confidential freephone Enquiry Line
  • develop and quality-manage a comprehensive database of local and countywide services and activities
  • manage a website and online databases of information
  • provide access to good quality information for all
  • respond to changes in all sectors, and developments in information technology
  • work with voluntary, statutory and independent organisations to gather information for all people in West Sussex
  • create custom information resources for service providers to enhance access to information
  • generate income to support our sustainability
  • keep abreast of changes in response to individual people's needs and those of service providers
  • provide information to people in different formats according to need

  • people of all ages in West Sussex needing help because of disability, disadvantage, difficulty, illness or accident
  • carers, friends and family members
  • people providing services

  • promotes their services and events on the ICIS database, newsletter and website
  • creates custom databases of information for specific client groups and services
  • facilitates the sharing of information
  • develops new ways of providing information
  • maintains and develops an up-to-date and accessible resource of community information

  • networks with service providers and community groups to share and develop ways of providing information
  • work closely within the health and social care sectors to support county developments and projects
  • helps identify gaps in services by reporting unmet needs
